1 We suggest that responsibility for the collation and production of the Diary should be delegated to a group of pupils (perhaps a sub group of the School Council or the School Charity Committee), with advice and support from a teacher as necessary. 2 Pupils should be encouraged to gather information and images whenever they are doing work for others. They should keep a record of everything that they do and make it as colourful as possible. 3 The entry could incorporate selected highlights from individual pupils’ charity diaries (see the G-Week Pack - download here). However, where possible, the entry should reflect whole school, year group and class effort. The format allows multiple participants to report on their own activities from all sectors of the school. 4 The entry should demonstrate the following (facilitated by the entry mechanism): * How pupils researched, planned and organised the school charity year; * Evidence of discussion and consultation within school; * Evidence of active and meaningful participation by pupils in charity activities; * Evidence of how pupils raised awareness of charity issues both within and outside school; * Reflection by pupils on what they have done for others and what it meant to them; and * Celebration of their achievements during G-Week. 5 Ideas on how the pupils will develop their work for charity and community in the coming year
Update emails - a sensible safeguard and a chance to encourage Whenever the Award Entry website has been updated we will generate automatic email notification to up to 6 people in your school. This precautionary measure enables supervising teachers / ICT staff to keep an eye on what’s going on in the name of your school, and also to encourage pupils by recognising their efforts. We hope you will use this process by including the right email addresses in the entry section. |
