Rules of Entry 1 The Awards are only open to UK Secondary Schools, Secondary Deemed Middle Schools and Special Schools with secondary pupils. 2 Only 1 entry is allowed per school. 3 Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 18th July 2008: on which they will be ’frozen’ for judging. 4 A group of pupils should lead in the production of the entry and give permission to enter the Awards. 5 Entries must acknowledge where external funding has supported activities and/or the production of the diary. 6 All materials in the diary should be original and non-copyright. 7 In entering for the awards, schools recognise that Giving Nation may contact them in future. 8 Schools will be categorised by region using 5 regions in England (South East, London, South West and West Mids, East and Yorks, North) and the nations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. 9 Assessors may ask for further details/ information. A visit to a school may be arranged, for face-to-face discussion.
10 The judges decision is final. 11 The Experience Awards cannot be exchanged for any other cash-equivalent prize or trip. 12 We will assume that the school has obtained parental consent for the use of photographs of pupils in future Giving Nation materials, unless otherwise stated. 13 We reserve the right not to make an Award in any particular region, if there are insufficient entries that meet the judging criteria. However, entries that go part way towards meeting the criteria, which we feel deserve recognition, may be recognised with a Commendation and a smaller cash prize. 14 Giving Nation reserves the right to participate in the selection of candidates who win the Experience Awards, to avoid any difficulties arising over the appropriate maturity of the young people involved.
FAQs
Why the reqional split? We’ve broken England into roughly equal population sizes, and though we recognise that these are bigger than the other nations’ populations we want to support national identities and their educational governing bodies. |
