What the Posh-and-Becks is Gift Aid?

The government has sorted out a scheme called Gift Aid, which allows charities to get even more money from the donations people give them.

The way it works is- when someone sponsors you, their donation to the charity would usually be taxed, but if they agree to Gift Aid then the charity will get the tax money as well as the donation itself. People have to personally declare their acceptance of Gift Aid, you can‘t do it for them, and obviously it only affects people who pay tax... so it doesn‘t work for people under 16.

To agree to the Gift Aid programme the sponsor has to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor sheet.
